Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway Pay Tribute to Meryl Streep at SAG Awards

Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Anne Hathaway reunited at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Saturday to commemorate the 18th anniversary of the iconic 2006 film, “The Devil Wears Prada.”

Streep took the stage initially but humorously began her speech by admitting she forgot her glasses and envelope. Blunt and Hathaway then made their entrance, presenting Streep with the necessary items: large, black, square-framed glasses and an awards envelope.

Hathaway donned a blue Versace dress, while Blunt stunned in a bright red custom Louis Vuitton gown. The trio shared an embrace onstage before Streep launched into her speech, pondering the blurred lines between a character and an actor.

Blunt cheekily remarked on the resemblance between Streep and her character Miranda Priestly, likening them to twins. Streep, in a self-deprecating manner, denied any similarity, leading to an amusing exchange.

As Streep struggled to open the envelope, Blunt humorously referenced a famous line from the film. The trio then announced the winner of the award for male actor in a comedy series, Jeremy Allen White for “The Bear.”

“The Devil Wears Prada” stars Hathaway as Andy Sachs, a young assistant to Streep’s character at the fictional Runway magazine, navigating the challenges presented by the formidable Streep and Blunt’s characters.

The beloved story is set to hit London’s West End in October as a musical, with Vanessa Williams taking on the role of Miranda Priestly.

The 30th annual SAG Awards, streamed live on Netflix for the first time, saw other notable winners such as Pedro Pascal for “The Last of Us,” Ali Wong for “Beef,” and Ayo Edebiri for “The Bear.”

In a post-win interview, Edebiri, who won for female actor in a comedy series, speculated on what icons like Streep and Oprah might think of her speech, suggesting they likely hoped she was doing well.
