Situated in the bustling Tianzifang commercial area of Shanghai, Cat Café TRYST offers a unique experience for cat lovers. Tucked away behind a narrow door, this café spans across the second and third floors of an old building, providing a cozy retreat for both cats and customers alike.
Renovation Project
Unlike typical commercial spaces, Cat Café TRYST underwent a renovation of an old housing unit to create a playful environment for its feline residents. The original rough walls were transformed into a cat-friendly haven through thoughtful design and implementation.
Cat-Friendly Design
During the design process, special considerations were made to accommodate the needs of the resident cats. Four ladders were strategically installed to allow easy access between the second and third floors, providing ample opportunities for exploration and play. Cat houses and ladders adorn the walls, offering additional play areas and resting spots for the cats.
Safety and Comfort
Safety and comfort were paramount in the design. Steep staircases were redesigned to ensure customer safety, with hand sanitizers and flip flops provided at the entrance to maintain cleanliness. Wallpapers were specially designed for customer selfies, adding to the interactive experience.
Playful Features
The café’s design incorporates playful elements, such as house-shaped lighting fixtures and windows, creating a harmonious atmosphere. Fixed resting areas on the third floor provide comfort for customers, with round holes allowing cats to roam freely between seats. Hanging cat houses serve as both a warning and protection against potential hazards on the floor.
Feline-Centric Approach
Cat Café TRYST is designed with the cats’ needs as the top priority. Three large ladders allow cats to climb and explore, while cat houses offer a safe retreat. Customers are invited to interact with the cats on the floor, creating memorable experiences for both humans and felines alike.
In essence, Cat Café TRYST is more than just a café—it’s a sanctuary where cats reign supreme, and visitors can escape into a world of feline fun and relaxation.
