The Care House of the Wind Chimneys is a sanctuary designed to welcome children with intractable diseases and their families, providing them with a space to rejuvenate and connect amidst their daily challenges. Design Inspired by Nature
Situated in Okinawa, the Care House embraces its lush surroundings, offering a single-story structure enveloped by flora. The design allows families and staff to seamlessly interact while enjoying the serene environment typical of the region. Emphasizing accessibility and comfort, the building features sliding glass doors, low entrances, and expansive wind chimneys that capture the essence of the ocean breeze, promoting relaxation and sensory engagement for bedridden children.
Connection to Environment
The architectural plan centers on a circular layout that embraces the natural landscape, with each room facing outward to encourage connection with Okinawa’s environment. The communal spaces, including a bath and living area, open up to the garden, while guestrooms provide a tranquil retreat for weary children.
