Tim Schaecker, renowned for his TikTok presence with 8.8 million followers and a member of the German boy band Elevator Boys, has embarked on a new venture by launching CNDO, a social networking app. The objective behind CNDO is to facilitate deeper connections between content creators and their communities, thereby revolutionizing social media and the creator economy.
Reimagining Social Interaction
CNDO, pronounced as “condo,” offers content creators a unique platform to establish private social rooms where followers can engage in group chats, participate in challenges, and receive exclusive updates from their favorite influencers. The app’s central feature revolves around challenges, emphasizing collective goals to strengthen online connections. For instance, creators can motivate their followers to cultivate healthy fitness habits, fostering a sense of camaraderie and mutual support.
Empowering Communities
Tim Schaecker emphasizes that CNDO prioritizes community engagement over individual spotlighting. The app aims to foster collaborative learning and personal growth through shared challenges, enabling users to connect with like-minded individuals and explore diverse interests beyond the influencer’s persona. Despite Schaecker’s prominence in lip-sync and dance videos, his CNDO club extends to various passions such as reading, fashion, and fitness.
Diverse Creator Ecosystem
At its inception, CNDO boasts a diverse lineup of 11 creators, including surfers Sophia Chiara and Shane (@shane_dk), alongside influencers from sports, ASMR, and beauty domains. The platform welcomes creators of all follower counts, provided they present a compelling concept strategy aligned with CNDO’s vision.
Monetization and Future Endeavors
Creators can monetize their communities and experiences through monthly subscriptions, with CNDO retaining a 20% commission. The company plans to introduce a centralized community hub, facilitating user discovery and broader participation in challenges. Additionally, CNDO intends to facilitate brand collaborations, enabling direct engagement between brands and relevant user communities.
Origin and Growth Trajectory
Tim Schaecker, in collaboration with co-founders Kian Seifert and Jordi Walder, developed CNDO during his tenure as a business administration student at the University of Mannheim. The app’s beta launch in October garnered 820 users, with a substantial waitlist of over 5,000 individuals. Securing $1 million in pre-seed funding in May 2023, CNDO attracted investment from notable figures like German pop singer Sarah Connor and industry leaders such as Julian Teicke of Wefox.
Elevator Boys’ Involvement
Members of the Elevator Boys, including Bene Schulz, Jacob Rott, Julien Brown, and Luis Freitag, have also invested in CNDO. Originating as a group TikTok account, the Elevator Boys transitioned into an official music group, launching their debut single, “Runaway,” and co-founding Kabu, an artist management company.
In essence, CNDO represents a paradigm shift in social networking, emphasizing community-driven engagement and collaborative growth, thereby redefining the landscape of digital interaction.
